Ever notice that pursuing happiness in the usual way is like chasing a dog that doesn’t want to come inside?
When we get close, the dog gives us a friendly, playful look, then dashes away as we lunge forward with a leash.
After many attempts, we give up and go home. Twenty minutes later, the dog returns, cheerfully stations itself next to its dinner bowl and gives us a look that says, “How about chicken and liver tonight?”
After a post-dinner nap, the dog escapes again, and the cycle repeats.
Dogs can teach us a lot about happiness.
Huskies, for example, don’t chase the cold weather by running north in summer. They shed the fur they don’t need and hang out by the AC.
What’s the point?
Our challenge is to shed two hardwired mindsets that veil our true nature: Fear and “lack,” the sense that we need something new, something more or someone else to feel “complete” and fulfilled.
Beneath all the chatter and drama of our wayward minds, we are inherently happy, fulfilled and at peace. This has been known and experienced in the East for thousands of years. There's nothing exotic about it.
In over 30 years of looking around, I haven’t seen it all, but I’ve seen an awful lot. There is only one way I know of to forever shed fear and lack anytime soon:
Reverse Mindfulness for Lasting Happiness is an ultra-practical approach to reversing attention.
It is a modern adaptation of ancient yogic teachings that are resurfacing due to their simplicity, minimal time commitment and amazingly fast results.
Unlike mindfulness, it’s incredibly simple and pleasant.
There’s no need to close your eyes, sit in a dark room or stretch your body.
You can do it anytime, in any situation, without anyone knowing.
Before long, it becomes second nature.
YOU HAVE REACHED THE LAST PLACE You WILL
EVER HAVE TO LOOK FOR LASTING HAPPINESS!
As the saying goes, "You always find something in the last place you look."
For over 30 years, I explored numerous spiritual traditions, teachings and practices, and health and wellness approaches.
After discovering the general approach of reversing attention, which gave rise to Reverse Mindfulness for Lasting Happiness, I was struck by how many people I encountered who felt they had tried everything else and had reached the last place they would ever have to look.
As best I can tell, they’re the happiest, most fulfilled people on the planet. While I don’t like these labels, a striking number of them are “awakened” or “enlightened.”
That didn’t happen because they crossed the finish line of an arduous spiritual path requiring decades of diligent practices and vast volumes of ancient wisdom.
It happened because they found something much simpler that worked -- and worked quickly.
A 7-week 1:1 coaching and counseling program with 1-hour weekly sessions, via ZOOM or in person if possible.
By the end of the program, you will be well on your way to living with:
The program is inexpensive, informal and often lighthearted. If you want to continue working with me after the program, we can do that, too.
Why It Works
In life and most forms of mindfulness, meditation and yoga, we are taught to pay attention to what we’re aware of: Sights, sounds, thoughts, emotions, mantras, energy, etc.
There’s nothing wrong with that. But our inner source of lasting peace and happiness, and unconditional fulfillment, is in the “opposite direction” -- awareness itself.
So how about a compromise? Instead of paying attention 100% of the time to what you're aware of, learn to spend some time paying attention to what is aware of it! It couldn't be easier or more enjoyable.

“Bruce doesn’t teach you to think positive as a temporary state of mind. He teaches you to feel positive - happy and fulfilled - as a way of life. Positive thinking then comes naturally. He helped me increase focus, productivity and a sense of purpose in my career, which led to more enjoyment in my life. Bruce is is savvy and knows all the tricks of the trade in business, which was important, as I am a born skeptic."
“I worked with Bruce, sometimes around the clock, when he was the Communications Director at a leading technology firm. His skills in communication, conflict resolution, dealing with C-Suite executives are exceptional. He's a natural executive mentor. In his current role, I saw a whole different side of him. He gave me a powerful framework for examining my life, truly assessing what I want it to mean, and finding lasting happiness.
“I have struggled throughout my life with pervasive negative thoughts. Bruce gave me simple, effective tools that I use to transform my mood and feel better immediately. I’m not usually a consumer of “self help,” but I’d recommend working with Bruce to anyone. What he will teach you is truly transformational. It can improve how you feel, think and work every day.”
“It is so easy to become derailed by our own negative thoughts and conditioned behavior in work and life, and very challenging to get back on track. Bruce gave me vital tools, techniques and advice that have given me greater tranquility, happiness and wellness.”
